Hawker Hurricane P3142 - 22/10/1941

On the 28th October 1941 Flying Officer Gerald Fisher (41570) of the Merchant Ship Fighter Unit was carrying local flying Hawker Hurricane No P3142 when Flying Officer Fisher had to carry out a forced landing near to the Courtaulds Factory at Connah's Quay, Flint at 15:45 hours, the aircraft hit a bank and turned over and Flying Officer Fisher was slightly injured. 

The engine cut when the petrol was exhausted in the gravity tank as Flying Officer Fisher failed to switch to the main tanks.

Flying Officer Fisher joined the RAF on a short service commission in November 1938 and did his training at White Waltham and Peterborough in January 1939. During August 1940 he was at No 7 OTU at Hawarden and joined No 602 Squadron in September at Westamnett in September 1940. He left the RAF in 1946 with the rank of squadron Leader and died in 1973.
