Martin B-26G 44-68072 01/02/1945

At 12:38 hours on the 1st February 1945 Martin B-26G No 44-68072 took of from RAF St Mawgan to flew the last leg of its ferry flight from the US to Burtonwood using the Southern Route via Brazil to West Africa to North Africa and finally the UK.

The aircraft never arrived at Burtonwood, it had been blown off course due to strong winds and it struck the 3000+ feet summit of Y Garn near the Lanberis pass with the loss of all crewmen.
